Responsible for troubleshooting problems, suggest enhancements to improve system performance as well as writing system scripts for daily administration and supporting documentation to automate repeatable tasks.
Evaluate and install patches and resolve software and hardware related problems.
Perform system backups and recovery as well as maintaining data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
Assist with securing and hardening infrastructure technologies to FDA Scientific Computing and to create/maintain system procedural and technical documentation.
Required Skills
Have strong UNIX/LINUX fundamentals along with familiarity of UNIX/LINUX/Windows Command Line Interface (CLI).
Proficient skill level working with Linux, system security, account management, shell scripts and Perl programming.
Proficient networking skills.
Demonstrated ability to methodically analyze problems and identify potential solutions.
Ability to adequately explain, present, demonstrate [when applicable.
Required Experience
Minimum of 4 years experience working with multiple operating systems.
Client server experience and experience working with system installation and maintenance upgrades.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
