We are seeking a talented and driven UX Designer to join our Internal Observability Product and Engineering Organization.
You will be integral in shaping the user experience of our internal observability products, working directly alongside product managers and engineers.
Your focus will be on understanding the needs of our internal users, translating intricate technical data into Clientive and actionable insights, and ensuring our observability solutions are user-centered, efficient, and drive proactive decision-making across our engineering and operations teams.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead the user-centered design process for our internal observability products, collaborating closely with product managers and engineers from concept to delivery.
Conduct user research activities and usability studies with internal engineering, SRE, and support teams to deeply understand their observability workflows, pain points, and data requirements.
Translate complex technical requirements, vast telemetry data (logs, metrics, traces, alerts), and product vision into Clientive user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
Design effective and insightful dashboards, visualizations, and interfaces for monitoring the health, performance, and behavior of the ServiceNow platform for internal users.
Advocate for the needs of internal users within the product and engineering organization, ensuring design decisions are data-informed and aligned with user workflows.
Present and articulate design rationale to product managers, engineers, and leadership within the Observability organization, clearly demonstrating the impact of design decisions on user effectiveness.
Iterate on designs based on user feedback gathered directly from internal teams, technical constraints, and the evolving needs of the ServiceNow platform.
Stay up-to-date with the latest UX/UI trends, data visualization techniques, and best practices within the observability domain.
Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback within the Observability UX community and the broader ServiceNow design organization.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a UX Designer, Interaction Designer, or Data Visualization Designer, ideally working directly within product and engineering organizations on technical or enterprise-grade products.
A strong portfolio showcasing your design process and demonstrating your ability to translate complex data into clear and actionable user interfaces, preferably within a monitoring, observability, or highly technical domain.
Solid understanding of interaction design principles, information architecture, and usability best practices, with a strong emphasis on data visualization principles for technical audiences analyzing complex systems.
Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar.
Proven experience working directly within agile product and engineering teams, embedding design into the development lifecycle.
A solid understanding of observability concepts (logs, metrics, traces, alerts) and their application in a large-scale cloud environment.
Nice to have:
Experience designing for observability platforms (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, New Relic) or internal monitoring tools.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Data Visualization, Computer Science with a strong UX focus, or a related technical field
