Job Description

As a Technical Writer, you will:

  • Create and update technical documentation associated with the following:
    • Service removal/replacement and vehicle maintenance procedures
    • Diagnostics/troubleshooting and wiring harness information
    • Software programming and post-repair bring-up
    • Fleet upgrade and rework procedures
    • Technical service bulletins, first responder documentation, and vehicle owner's manual

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as an automotive repair or diagnostic technician
  • 2+ years of experience with technical documentation in the automotive field (e.g., documenting automotive engineering processes and procedures related to vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, programming, etc.)
  • Experience with topic-based writing concepts and markup language (e.g., HTML, XML, or DITA XML)
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and cross-functional teamwork skills
  • Exhibit high attention to detail and safety acumen
  • Ability to multitask and manage workload to achieve project deliverable deadlines
  • Self-starter and ability to approach the role with a can-do, team player attitude


Bonus Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in Automotive Technology or Technical Writing
  • 5+ years of experience as an automotive repair or diagnostic technician
  • 2+ years of experience as a technical writer in the automotive field
  • Automotive OEM service manual authoring experience
  • Experience with any of these software programs: Oxygen XML (DITA), JIRA, Github, Confluence, Adobe Creative Suite, or CATIA 3DX


 

Education

Bachelor's degree
