Description

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Project Manager (TPM) in India to drive cloud-based software delivery for our higher education client. You will manage distributed engineering squads and ensure seamless global collaboration. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise with Ruby on Rails, Python/Django, AWS, PostgreSQL, and MySQL to guide technical teams through implementation, debugging, and architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Engineering Leadership:
  • Manage multiple India-based squads (contract and full-time).
  • Coach teams on best practices, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Shore Collaboration:
  • Align priorities and facilitate smooth handoffs with U.S. engineering and product leaders.
  • Technical Planning & Execution:
  • Translate business requirements into scalable solutions with architects and senior engineers.
  • Participate in architecture/design reviews and assist with code reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on expertise required in:
  • Ruby on Rails (primary backend)
  • Python/Django
  • PostgreSQL & MySQL
  • AWS Cloud Infrastructure
  • Agile Delivery Management:
  • Oversee project lifecycle: planning, backlog grooming, estimation, sprint execution, and release coordination.
  • Monitor milestones and proactively resolve risks.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Represent India teams in cross-functional discussions; ensure transparency and timely status updates.
  • Talent Development:
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and skill development.
  • Set a high standard for performance and accountability.

     

Basic Qualifications

 

  • 8–10+ years in software engineering with full-stack development exposure.
  • 5+ years in engineering/project management in distributed/global teams.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects from discovery through deployment.
  • Hands-on expertise in:
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Python/Django
  • AWS
  • PostgreSQL & MySQL
  • RESTful API design, Git, and CI/CD practices
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
