Description

We seek a candidate with both strong 3D modeling expertise and technical skills in tool development.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Meta’s operations team to assess the quality of 3D models produced by the team’s internal 3D scanning machine, focusing on the accuracy of 3D geometry and the correctness of PBR materials.
  • Refine and correct imperfections in scanned 3D models using DCC software such as Blender to ensure they accurately match their physical counterparts.
  • Develop and maintain efficient art pipelines and tools to streamline the 3D art production and scanning throughput
  • Create post-processing tools for tasks such as decimation, UV generation, and texture decompression to aid in 3D model processing and performance optimization
  • Collaborate with the operations, artist, and research teams to achieve the overarching goal of generating large-scale digital twin 3D models.
  • Partner with the research team to explore innovative approaches, including procedural content generation, inverse rendering, articulated object generation, and digital human modeling.
  • Utilize Meta's internal tools, such as cloud services, storage, and databases, to enhance daily operations.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong 3D Modeling Skills: Expertise in industry-standard 3D modeling software and 2D texturing software, with a preference for Blender and Substance Painter.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience through a 3D artist work portfolio. (Preferable to be attached with resume)
  • 3D Rendering Knowledge: Understanding of PBR materials and lighting, with proficiency in creating shading and geometry node graphs in Blender.
  • Strong Tools Programming and Scripting Skills: Proficiency in Python programming, tools development, and DCC plugin programming.
  • Familiarity with Cloud-Based Infrastructure and Tools
  • Familiarity with Industry-Standard Project Management Tools: Knowledge of tools such as Git and Perforce (P4).
  • Communication: Skilled in effective verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Multiple years of experience in the video game or 3D software industry as 3D artist/Technical Artist. 
  • Knowledge of 3D sculpting tools, such as ZBrush and Blender
  • Familiarity with .glb and .gltf formats
