Systems Engineer

Job Description:

Client is seeking a Systems Engineering Lead with deep expertise in COBOL, Unix scripting, and DB2 LUW. This is a client-facing role supporting an industrial client focused on aftermarket and service parts. You’ll play a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting application systems used in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and resolve software issues within COBOL-based applications
• Provide L1/L2 support to technical users and business teams
• Perform software maintenance tasks: patches, upgrades, and configs
• Monitor performance and resolve system alerts proactively
• Collaborate with dev, infra, and support teams across disciplines
• Create and maintain support documentation and knowledge bases

Required Qualifications:

• 6+ years of COBOL (Mainframe) experience
• 6+ years of Unix scripting
• 6+ years working with DB2 LUW
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Proven history of hands-on application maintenance and support
• Excellent written documentation skills

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or related field)
