Description

This position is responsible for using Tableau to design, develop, implement, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that provide valuable insights to the Maryland State Police (MSP) organization and stakeholders. A key aspect of this role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data visualizations.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Gather reporting requirements from stakeholders.
  • Follow Center of Excellence procedures for project execution.
  • Develop and maintain data models that align with agency requirements and needs.
  • Create and maintain data visualizations and dashboards using Tableau.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for developed solutions and instructional procedures.
  • Attend MSP ITD meetings as required.
  • Provide regular status updates on assigned tasks to MSP supervisor.
  • Offer after-hours support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Deliverables/Acceptance Criteria:
 

  • Tableau data models, dashboards, and reports.
  • Documentation of instructions and methodology used in development.


Education Requirements:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or another related scientific or technical discipline, OR three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Tableau Certification.


Experience Requirements:
 

  • General Experience: At least three (3) years of computer experience in technical assignments with close supervision and direction.
  • Specialized Experience:
    • At least one (1) year of experience creating SQL queries.
    • At least one (1) year of experience with Tableau Desktop.
    • At least one (1) year of experience with Tableau Server.
    • At least one (1) year of experience using Tableau Prep.


Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Knowledge of Python (programming language).
