Requires experience Systems Administrator, creativity and multi-tasking to independently and collaboratively achieve department service and support objectives for the Transportation Operations Center.

Rotating on-call support required.

- Responds to all levels ofsupport requests from Tier 1 - 3.
- Provides exceptional customer service.
- Communicates effectively with teammates andcustomers of varying levels of technical expertise.
- Responds to all break/fix requests associatedwith end user resources.
- Configures and deploys new/replacementLinux(REDHAT) and Windows Operating Systems Servers.
- Configures and deploys new/replacementdesktop/laptop computer equipment and peripherals.
- Maintains up-to-date project and architecturedocumentation.
- Maintains up-to-date inventory and maintenancerecords.
- Monitors system resources for server/serviceanomalies.
- Resolves connection issues between users andresources.
- Maintains detailed change history of changes.
- Supports team efforts to improve cybersecuritycontrols and defenses.
- Supports team efforts for threat hunting andmitigation.
- Manages time and resource constraints.

The System Administrator is responsible foreffective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenanceof computer hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individualensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and relatedprocedures adhere to Commonwealth policies, standards, and guidelines.Responsibilities include systems administration engineering and provisioning,operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensurecontinual innovation. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configurehardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. inaccordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Perform dailysystem monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware,server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and applicationlogs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Performregular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Perform dailybackup operations and regular file archival and purge as necessary. Create,change, and delete user accounts per request. Provide Tier III/other supportper request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.Diagnose and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate andcommunicate with impacted constituencies. Apply OS patches and upgrades on aregular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / addnew services as necessary. Upgrade and configure system software that supportsGIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project oroperational needs. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Performongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization asrequired. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
