System Administrator

Required experience: Linux, Windows Server, and MySQL or MariaDB
- Minimum education: At least two years of college-level course work or an Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience: 5 to 7 years in the design and configuration of databases and operating systems, including virtualization
- Tasks: MariaDB administration and management, database server administration, server operating systems and virtualization technologies, Linux based operating systems, system performance, disaster recovery
- Skills: Ability to meet schedules and deadlines, understand and carry out oral and written directions, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, interpret application requirements, engineer, build and test server solutions, mitigate security risks, work on installations, upgrades, and root cause analysis of service outages
- Bonus skills: VMware vSphere administration and management, Python scripting experience, general knowledge of water and wastewater operations, ICS Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, implementation and support, Veeam Backup administration and management
- Job responsibilities: Provide MariaDB database support, remediate database issues, ensure databases are backed up and restorable, act as an expert for server virtualization and disaster recovery, administer and maintain operating system patching systems, analyze issues and implement solutions, perform system administration, monitor and respond to ICS server issues, implement and manage monitoring, logging and alerting solutions, create and maintain technical documentation, stay abreast of current technology trends, assist in establishing and implementing short and long-term goals, review proposed upgrades and designs of system components, act as liaison between the I&T Department and Maintenance and ICS Technology
