Oversee and control comprehensive IT Systems and programs in alignment with the strategic goals of the agency to monitor, provide corrective measures for errors and produce strategies for new requirements.
 

The System Administrator (SA) serves as thehighest-level technical experts.  Theadministrator uses advanced enterprise operations systems and coordinates withteams of IT specialists, analysts, administrators, and developers to operateand maintain a large IT enterprise that supports over 10,000 social servicesstaff across the Commonwealth.  Theadministrator is responsible for four fundamental areas across multipleplatforms:

ManagedFile Transfers: The administrator will work as a team to develop newtransfer jobs to meet business needs, security requirements and operationstandards.  This will require knowledgeof secure transfer protocols, LINUX file / folder permission and acomprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Thisincludes, but is not limited to, Cloud, SAAS, and Low-Code applicationplatforms, and also includes development of the GoAnywhere Product.

BatchManagement: The administrator will provide support services forthe production scheduling system and batch execution, currently using BMSControl-M being supported by Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA).

Monitoring:The administrator will use an integrated, advanced suite of software tools andIT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices to monitor, detect, alert, control,and respond to outages related to LINUX / Windows server, network glitches, jobfailures and software issues.

ServiceDesk Support: The administrator provides expert support tocustomers and other staff for the systems they monitor. This includes theability to research failures, provide next steps for resolution to users, takeactions to resolve issues, and evaluate actions needed to prevent recurringproblems.

The system administrator has proficient knowledge ofmultiple platforms and file transfer processes with the ability to developsolutions based on business requirements.



 

The system administrator designs, writes, tests,debugs / troubleshoots, and maintains processes required for the successfulcommunication of files with both internal and external trading partners.

The system administrator will be responsible for themanagement and maintenance of the Operations Documents and Runbooks/Playbooks

The position responsibility will include thepreparation of system documentation and configuring file transfer solutions todeliver quality, cost effective and timely deliverables according to thedepartments lifecycle development approach (SDLC). This includes:

• Clarifying requests for enhancements or systemschanges with Application Development, Security Operations (SECOPS), System andBusiness Analysts.

• Analyzing user requirements, documents and requeststo develop effective automated solutions.

• Maintaining production transfer solutions, systemconfigurations, unit test plans, and other supporting technical documentation.

• Following coding and documentation standards througha review process.

In addition to these major areas of responsibilities,the administrator will support other operational duties as assigned.
