Responsibilities:
• Create and run structural automated calculations driven from Excel into RISA/SAAP 2000 & CFS to calculate member sizes and reaction loads based on the Wind tunnel study.
• Create automated structural calculation report driven from above calculations.
• Provide ULS and SLS reaction Loads for specific structure for Pile calculations.
• Use wind tunnel study information to calculate ballast requirements.
• Perform environmental loading calculations using the appropriate building code for the jurisdiction (OBC, NBC, ASCE).
• Check the proposed racking system for strength, deflection, and uplift.
• Review structural Drawings for accuracy.
• Work with sister company PRI engineering to support engineering for solar structural engineering inquiries.
• Reply to technical requests in a timely manner.
• Use experience to continually recommend process improvements.
• Maintain a positive attitude in a dynamic team environment.
• Supervising & mentoring of junior staff and provide technical guidance.
• Provide technical guidance and engineering support for construction activities.
• Ensure the quality, consistency, accuracy, and neatness of contract document deliverables.
• Maintain project information and status tracking systems on a daily basis.
• Support and take initiative on continuous improvement programs throughout the organization.
• Clear communication with internal stakeholders, vendors and customers on project status and deliverables
• Serve as a primary source and point of responsibility for project information to all parties including clients, consultants, production, design and development, sales, logistics, and finance.
• Provide expert advice on project development processes and/or construction methods.

• Work across functional departments to ensure projects are designed and built in accordance with regulatory codes and standards, engineering best practice, as well as industry requirements and quality standards.
• Provide technical support on projects for external and internal stakeholders.
• Be a subject matter expert on local codes and regulations regarding Solar PV mounting in the areas that Polar Racking is active in
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvements in product designs, plans, process, and product deployment.
• Provide guidance on consistency and quality to technologists on the engineering team. Sets standards for drawing architecture; audit work of technologists to verify consistency.
Experience and Credentials:
• Experience with Solar Racking design will be preferred but not essential.
• Masters degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
• Have 4 to10+ years experience in structural Engineering.
• At least 5+ years experience in Automated structural calculations
• Have working experience in using wind tunnel study.
• Understanding frequency and Damping effects in design is a must.
• Have working experience in using OBC, NBC, ASCE Building codes.
• Work experience with SAAP 2000 Software
• Work experience with CFS software
• Work Experience with RISA software
• Experience in creating full structural reports.
• Experience in calculating ULS and SLS reaction loads.
• Have excellent time management skills.
