Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our hybrid SQL Server environments—on-premises and in Azure. This role combines deep technical skills with strategic oversight in performance tuning, automation, cloud data services, and enterprise-scale solutions. The ideal candidate will support mission-critical systems, lead cloud migrations, and mentor junior DBAs.

 

Database Admin IV Responsibilities Include:

  •  Design, implement, and manage SQL Server and Azure SQL Managed Instances.
  •  Plan, coordinate, and implement database object changes to support system and application upgrades.
  •  Develop and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines for ETL and data migration.
  •  Create automation scripts (PowerShell, T-SQL) for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
  •  Oversee database backup and disaster recovery solutions using Veeam and native SQL tools.
  •  Monitor and report on system performance using Redgate SQL Toolbelt and other tools.
  •  Ensure data integrity, availability, security, and compliance across environments.
  •  Participate in capacity planning, high availability design, and long-term infrastructure improvements.
  •  Lead or contribute to enterprise Data Warehouse architecture and performance tuning.
  •  Support and coordinate after-hours maintenance and on-call operations.
  •  Maintain detailed documentation of all database operations and procedures.
  •  Mentor junior team members and promote cross-functional collaboration.
  •  Performs other job-related duties as assigned

 

Database Admin IV Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities Requested:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  •  10+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration in mid-to-large environments.
  •  Experience supporting hybrid database architectures and enterprise workloads.
  •  Substantial IT experience may substitute for education on an exceptional basis.
  •  Expert in SQL Server administration, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and Azure Data Factory.
  •  Skilled in PowerShell, T-SQL scripting, and automation frameworks.
  •  Strong understanding of security, access controls, compliance, and auditability.
  •  Familiar with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps collaboration (preferred).
  •  Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a high-pressure environment.
  •  Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  •  Self-motivated, positive team player with a solution-oriented mindset.
  •  Able to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team.
  •  Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain required or security clearances.

 

Certifications Preferred:

  •  Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  •  Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Data Platform
  •  Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) – Database
