Skills/Experience

Experience as a Mainframe Developer/Programmer Analyst with COBOL or Natural programming
Demonstrated foundational experience with large-scale, complex mainframe productions systems
Hands-on experience in design, implementation, and productions support of applications
Mainframe Development background in design, analysis, and coding: COBOL or Natural programming, TSO/ISPF, JCL, and DB2.
Other skills: VSAM files.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working in a global environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to Prioritize Business Impact and Urgency
Perform application support tasks like systems support, security reviews, and maintenance tasks
Ability to learn new technologies and methodologies quickly
Experience creating project documentation such as: technical specifications, process workflow, and database record and field specifications
Experience to troubleshoot/resolve incidents and business support items in Mainframe
Testing experience
Experience in database management systems (IBM Data Studio, Squirrel)
Experience as a Programmer, Analyst, or Systems Administrator
Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL or Natural programming languages.
Provide support for development, architecture, and administration of mainframe operations.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
Design, develop, and maintain Job Control Language (JCL) scripts for operational needs.
Collaborate with project and operations teams to conduct analysis and documentation.
Follow change control processes and procedures as defined by the agency.
Work with business and IT teams to translate business needs into technical requirements.
Identify opportunities for automation by integrating mainframe and external systems.
Coordinate with IT support teams to ensure successful development and implementation.
Develop and execute unit and system test plans to validate application changes.
Ensure compliance with the full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Assist in developing and executing test plans to verify program functionality.
Review documentation and perform quality assurance to meet program requirements.
Maintain a reliable and predictable work schedule.
Be available outside normal business hours when necessary to support operations.
Perform other duties as assigned to sustain business operations.
