Sr. Application Architect

A. Identify and research new applications, cloud technologies and products for applicability to Client business functions.
B. Develop and expand the use of existing platforms and applications including Oracle and SQL databases, Salesforce, Azure, ESRI, .NET, PowerBuilder, AASHTOware, SharePoint,
Microsoft Power Platform.
C. Provide technology briefings on emerging applications to OIT management, the Client IT Steering Committee (ITSC), or to other teams as directed by OIT management.
D. Provide recommendations to OIT management, the Client ITSC, or other Client teams regarding specific applications or COTS products.
E. Develop detailed short-term and long-term plans for implementation.
F. Advise and participate in Disaster Recovery Planning and Execution
G. Advise on and conduct data classification of applications and conducting security related research.
H. Participate in the OIT Level of Effort (LOE) meetings to estimate the size of new IT project requests.
I. Participate in the OIT PRC meetings to adopt or reject new IT project requests.
J. Other duties as assigned include documentation as directed by the Department.

Experience:

1. Five (5) years’ experience as an Application Architect.

2. Demonstrated progression in responsibilities and roles, with experience designing and implementing complex IT solutions within the Transportation Industry.

3. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.

Certifications:

1. Active mid to advanced cloud certification (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.).

Technical Skills:

• In-depth knowledge and expertise in technologies relevant to the organization’s architecture needs.

• Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or Zachman Framework).

• Experience with cloud computing platforms, cloud-native applications in MS Azure, and services.

• Knowledge of best practices in system architecture, design patterns, and integration strategies.

• Ability to design solution architectures using modern decoupled, event-based, and API-enabled frameworks.

• Experience with implementing container management systems
