Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Snowflake Data Architect to design, implement, and optimize a Snowflake environment for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. The role involves utilizing Snowflake features like data sharing, scalability, and secure data exchange, while developing optimized data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and integration with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premises systems. Responsibilities include secure data management (RBAC, encryption, masking), performance monitoring, automation using SQL or Python, managing data loading methods (COPY INTO, Snowpipe), and configuring Snowflake Virtual Warehouses. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the platform meets business needs effectively and efficiently.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in data modeling, data integration, data warehousing, data governance, and data security.
- 8+ years of experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL in high-availability deployments.
- 8+ years of expertise with Snowflake architecture, objects (Databases, Procedures, Tasks, Streams), and cloning capabilities.
- Proven experience managing Snowflake Virtual Warehouses, optimizing query performance, and implementing RBAC.
- Experience integrating Snowflake SSO and SCIM for secure identity management.
- Strong expertise with data integration tools such as Informatica and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Proficiency in automating administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL, Python, or Shell scripting.
- Experience monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments, including usage tracking and query profiling.
- Deep understanding of Snowflake's security features, such as data masking, encryption, and network policies.
- Excellent technical writing and diagramming skills using tools like Visio, Erwin, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).
- Experience working on agile sprint teams and proficiency with JIRA software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control for Snowflake code deployments.
- Prior experience in the healthcare industry, especially within HHS agencies.
- Experience handling PII/PHI data and familiarity with HL7 standards.
- Experience with Azure cloud environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent experience.
