Duties and Responsibilities
Plan server or rack layouts, arrange for server mounting, and oversee the installation of server operating systems
Perform daily maintenance tasks, troubleshoot, manage break-fix and resolve issues related to server and other hardware
Maintain and update internal systems data such as Asset Management, Ticketing, and Rack Elevation
Collaborate with remote vendors to address and resolve hardware failures and issues
Provide on-call support, addressing and resolving issues raised by business owners or stakeholders in a timely and effective manner
Collect and verify online asset data
Submit, track, and manage the RMA process and oversee media destruction processes
Diagnose and resolve server network connectivity issues
Manage server lifecycle activities
Perform other server operations-related duties as required
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field of study
Quick to learn new concepts and technologies, with a broad interest in technical topics
Demonstrates a high sense of responsibility with a proactive, enthusiastic attitude, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines
Strong team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively
Ability to work independently and take initiative in completing tasks
Knowledge of the interdependencies of data center functions and technologies
Experience with large-scale remote operating system installations such as PXE boot
Familiarity with scripting languages (Shell or Python)
Knowledge of basic automation tools, such as Ansible
In-depth knowledge of Linux systems, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware faults
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Solid understanding of networking concepts, including Subnetting, VLANs, DNS, and IPv6, with the ability to perform general network troubleshooting
Knowledge of out-of-band/lights-out server communication methods, such as IPMI and NCSI
Strong attention to detail and consistent documentation practices
