Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and maintain technical documentation including system manuals, process guides, functional specifications, and user instructions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work closely with business analysts, developers, QA testers, and project managers to capture system requirements and workflows.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and quick reference guides.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with DHHS standards, accessibility requirements, and state/federal regulations (HIPAA, PHI, etc.).
  • Manage document repositories and maintain version control.
  • Facilitate review sessions with stakeholders to validate accuracy and completeness.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by preparing test documentation, checklists, and training materials.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience as a Technical Writer, Business Analyst, or similar IT documentation role.
  • Proven ability to create technical manuals, training materials, and system documentation for large IT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as MS Word, MS Visio, Confluence, Jira, SharePoint, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work onsite 2 days per week in Lansing, MI.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) or other public health/government agencies.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT systems, Medicaid, or case management solutions.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards such as HIPAA and PHI
