Senior SQL Server and Cloud Administrator

We are seeking a Senior SQL Server and Cloud Administrator with extensive experience in enterprise-scale financial environments. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for professionals local to NY/NJ who are eager to contribute to high-availability, mission-critical database systems within the investment banking or brokerage industry.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from a U.S.-accredited university
• 10+ years of experience in IT services organizations
• 8+ years of hands-on SQL DBA experience (production, implementation, project work)
• 5+ years in Level 3 / SME support roles
• Prior on-call support experience (minimum 5 years)
• 5+ years of client-facing experience in global environments
• Familiarity with ITIL support and service management processes
• Strong documentation skills using MS SharePoint 2010/2013
• Experience in an investment banking or brokerage environment is an absolute must

Technical Qualifications:

• Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (latest versions) in large, high-availability environments
• Expert in performance tuning (server and query level) using perfmon, DMVs, and extended events
• Strong understanding of SQL Server internals, partitioning, and data compression
• Hands-on experience with High Availability/DR solutions: Mirroring, Replication, and Always On Availability Groups
• Skilled in T-SQL scripting, PowerShell, and/or Python for automation
• Strong knowledge of SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
• Proficient in:
  • SQL Server Clustering
  • SSRS (Reporting Services)
  • SSAS (Analysis Services)
• Familiar with SQL Server security and permissions model
• Minimum 6 months of hands-on exposure to AWS Cloud RDS

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to MySQL and Linux environments
• Experience with Azure, Snowflake, or other modern cloud data platforms
• Microsoft certifications on the latest versions of SQL Server (e.g., MCSE, MCSA)
