Senior Software Engineer

Job Description:

Our client maintains various computer systems that are used in all the courts and other state agencies. We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to assist with system development, enhancement, integration, and documentation. Applications comprise of Windows and web-based .NET applications with an MS-SQL Server database backend.

Scope of Services:

The ideal candidate will be able to contribute immediately in the following areas:

• Assist with software development efforts as determined by the project management team.
• Assist our client in reconciliating current business requirements, and modern information technology standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in design, development, unit testing, and solving complex engineering problems.
• .NET 6 & 8
• .NET MVC, Razor Pages
• .NET Entity Framework
• .NET WEB API
• Azure Authentication (Microsoft Entra)
• SQL Server (2016 and up)
  • Ability to write and debug complex queries (e.g., outer, self and recursive joins)
• SSIS & SSRS
• IIS (8.5 and up)
• Azure DevOps
• SQL Server Performance Tuning
  • Optimize SQL queries (Query Execution Plans, etc.)
  • Simplify Index analysis
  • Resolve SQL Server deadlocks
  • Identify the root cause of SQL Server blocking problems
• Bootstrap, jQuery and various other front-end frameworks.
• Messaging APIs (e.g., Service Broker, SignalR)
• Understand and implement common OOP design patterns.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests.
• Experience with Production Support activities.
• Experience converting legacy VB6 applications to .NET is a plus.

Timetable:

A selected candidate may be able to join our client’s team as soon as the onboarding process is completed. A duty station will be assigned in East Hartford, with opportunities for hybrid remote work (three days onsite and two days remote) and a flexible work schedule between 35 and 40 hours per week.
