Qualifications:
- EXP- 10 to 13 years
- 5-7 years experience, minimum CCNP or equivalent
A network engineering technology generalist :
- Background covering routing / switching/ firewalls / wireless LAN
Mandatory Technology :
- Cisco LAN + WLAN. Other vendors such as juniper nice to have.
- Palo Alto firewalls preferred, Fortinet and Cisco useful
- Experience in campus networking mandatory
Complex enterprise locations :
- industrial, medical or any secure network such as defence or banking.
- Segmented LAN and WLAN
- large 2 or 3 tier campus switching environment
- on-premises services infrastructure (DHCP, DNS)
- enterprise large campus physical layer – IDF, MDF, structured cabling, SPFs, inter and intra-building fibre, rack layouts and power distribution , path panels.
- Used to working with a pre-sales or Consultancy mindset and experience
- able to go into an previously unknown site or customer network , work in discovery mode to learn the current network structure
- Assess physical as well logical networking state and issues (therefore onsite required for a small period at least)
- Capture / understand / analyse / document requirements and options before going into solution mode.
- able to think for themselves when encountering unknowns.
- hands-on (CLI, GUI, etc.) work to be expected
- Starting from a reference target design (which will be provided by FDT LAN network lead), come up with the high and low level design and step-by-step plan needed to migrate from the current situation to the target.
If design shows that new equipment is needed to meet target:
- prepare BOM and liaise with customer procurement to prepare technically accurate PO (commercials out of scope for this role).
- BOM to include any physical layer requirements as well e.g. additional cabling.
- be the technical lead the actual migration at customer site (scope of the migration change will vary site to site).
- On site presence could be required for this. Post migration hypercare, document and hand over to network operations team.
Following skills could be an advantage:
- Automation experience could be an advantage
- Experience with Catalyst Center, Netbrain could be an advantage
- experience of service provider SDWAN as a customer nice to have but not a big deal if not
- Baraccuda firewalls nice to have for one of the projects but not needed for others
