About the Role:


Join the Michelin AI Team within central engineering, responsible for Level 2 Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) across 26 manufacturing sites in the Americas. These systems interface with automation (PLCs) and are critical to our operations.

You will play a vital role in configuring, deploying, and supporting MES systems that drive operational efficiency. You’ll also participate in transitioning these systems to modern architectures using microservices and containerization.

 

Why We Have the Need

As Michelin continues to innovate and improve its manufacturing processes, robust Level 2 systems are essential for communication between automation systems and our MES.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • System Deployment: Configure and deploy MES systems for new machinery or upgrades to legacy systems.
  • Troubleshooting & Debugging: Test and debug systems, including code reviews and script repairs.
  • Collaboration: Work with local plant teams to gather requirements, test systems, and train end-users.
  • Code Optimization: Make minor application code changes and ensure SQL data conversion script accuracy.
  • Production Support: Monitor and resolve system issues post-production.

 

Technical Environment

Current architecture includes:

  • OS: Windows Servers (2008-2019).
  • Applications: .NET Framework (C#, WPF, ASP.Net) with Oracle Database.
  • Deployment: VMware ESXi clusters in on-premises datacenters.

Future architecture involves:

  • Containers: Kubernetes (K8), VMware Tanzu.
  • Technologies: .NET Core, Blazer, PostgreSQL.

 

Required Skills

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  2. Languages: Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (C# preferred).
  3. System Administration: Familiarity with Windows Server administration and relational databases (PostgreSQL or Oracle).
  4. Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills without relying on external tools like Google.
  5. Communication: Fluent in English (B2 level or higher).

 

Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing: 5–7 years in a production manufacturing setting.
  • Virtualization: VMware ESXi clusters.
  • Network: Ethernet, VLANs, firewalls, and protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, ARP, DNS).
  • Development Tools: Git/TFS, PowerShell, ServiceNow, JIRA.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Exposure to modern deployment methodologies
