Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for multiple products within Regulatory Compliance.
  • Lead end-to-end Appian (BPM, Workflow) application development including design, build, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and product leads to deliver robust and scalable solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies in support of HSBC's technology strategy; design and implement solutions adhering to group standards, governance policies, and mandatory controls.
  • Mentor and coach engineers within the development practice to foster growth and technical excellence.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions in accordance with HSBC's engineering standards and best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation; support compliance and audit requirements.
  • Engage closely with global and regional stakeholders, as well as the global development team, on regulatory, mandatory, and development initiatives.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer for interrelated products, overseeing service improvement, incident reviews, and achievement of key technology objectives.
  • Ensure software solutions meet service resilience, sustainability, and recovery time objectives.
  • Stay updated with emerging tools and technologies, particularly in cyber security and regulatory compliance, and implement them where applicable.

Experience Requirements:

  • 8-12 years experience in delivering projects within a structured project delivery environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Appian platform development; APPIAN L1 and/or L2 Certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong technical expertise in Oracle SQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, SAIL, Appian Development, SQL, and Mule API.
  • Proficient in DevOps practices and toolsets, including JIRA, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience working in financial services or large complex organisations is preferred.
  • A passion for technology and a clear understanding of its role in delivering business value.
  • Proven track record in enhancing developer productivity through automation, AI, and advanced engineering practices.
