Senior Cognos Administrator

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cognos Administrator to manage and maintain our Cognos Analytics environment, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in administering IBM Cognos Analytics (11.0 or higher) and demonstrate expertise in database systems, query languages, and file transmission protocols. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to support reporting needs and ensure seamless data delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong 8+ years of experience as a Cognos Administrator, working with IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0 or higher.
Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or higher and SQL query language.
Experience working with Windows Server 2012 or higher
Hands-on experience with FTP file movements and file transmission processes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Cognos Administration:
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM Cognos Analytics environments (11.0 and higher).
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations for Cognos servers.
Manage user roles, permissions, and security settings within the Cognos environment.
Deploy and manage Cognos content such as reports, dashboards, and data modules.
Database and Query Management:
Manage and optimize database connections for Cognos reporting, including Microsoft SQL Server (2012 and higher).
Develop and troubleshoot complex SQL queries to support report development and system integrations.
Collaborate with database administrators to ensure efficient data retrieval and performance.
Server and IIS Administration:
Oversee the configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Servers (2012 and higher) hosting Cognos applications.
Manage Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) to ensure reliable web application hosting for Cognos.
File Transfer and Automation:
Configure and manage FTP file movements and transmissions to support data processing workflows.
Automate routine tasks related to file handling, system monitoring, and data transfers.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Proactively monitor system logs, server health, and data flows to identify and resolve issues.
Collaborate with support teams to troubleshoot and resolve incidents promptly.
Documentation and Best Practices:
Create and maintain technical documentation for the Cognos environment, including configuration, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
Implement best practices for system administration, data security, and disaster recovery.
