Senior Business Analyst

The Senior Business Analyst will perform advanced business analysis work related to analyzing and implementing complex, emerging technology hardware and software projects as part of our clients' mainframe transformation initiative. This includes analyzing deployed functionality for Production Support and process improvement activities. The focus of this role will be data-related, including data modeling, data bridging, root cause analysis of data errors, and data flow documentation.

The ideal candidate should have expertise in Microsoft SSIS, MS SQL Server, and Oracle, as well as familiarity with the broader technical stack including Informatica, MuleSoft, COBOL, Java, Salesforce, .NET, Oracle, Snowflake, and GoAnywhere.

This position will be responsible for analyzing and documenting the implementation of multiple interrelated projects, including:

• Software as a Service (SaaS) or Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) application implementations
• Migration of data from mainframe systems to new environments
• Development of a Data Warehouse

The Business Analyst will ensure all deliverables align with established processes and methodologies, and that materials are of consistent quality. The role works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for independent decision-making and may supervise others.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and document business processes related to data flow and system integration.
• Analyze production support issues, identifying root causes and recommending system/data corrections.
• Facilitate interactive sessions with business and cross-functional teams.
• Define and maintain functional design and system specifications.
• Oversee user acceptance testing, training, and implementation-related activities.
• Develop process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across IT and business units to ensure alignment on technology specifications

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years – Business analysis experience with a focus on data modeling and data flow for software development projects; including the preparation of project-related documentation, data model and data flow documentation.
• 8+ years – Strong interpersonal, collaborative, analytical, written/verbal/presentation communication skills in English (specifically technical writing); and well-versed with MS Office suite of products and prototyping/screen mock-up tools such as Visio and SnagIt.
• 8+ years – Hands-on requirements elicitation; client management and technical documentation including traceability, use cases, prototyping, and data modeling.
• 8+ years – Facilitating analysis of business and functional requirements and design of technology specifications, working with business/functional personnel.
• 8+ years – Facilitating interactive sessions with business and cross-functional teams.
• 8+ years – Strong analysis experience and expertise in assessing Production Support issues related to system and/or data bridges to determine Root Cause and document items needed for data or system correction.
• 8+ years – Developing/maintaining an understanding of key business drivers/impacts, assisting clients with identifying and solving business-related system and data errors.
• 8+ years – Facilitating analysis of business and functional requirements and design of technology specifications, working with business/functional personnel.
• 8+ years – Defining functional design and systems specifications; preparing/reviewing/delivering completed packages.
• 8+ years – Participating in and providing guidance to Business and Functional Units in developing and completing user acceptance testing, training, and implementation-related activities.
• 4+ years – Experience SQL, including MS SQL Server; SSIS and .Net development environments; Azure DevOps; Oracle; and analysis of data bridges.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with mainframe environments, including hierarchical databases and their limitations; relational databases; Informatica, MuleSoft, COBOL, Java, Salesforce, Snowflake, and GoAnywhere.
• Experience with process improvement strategies and methodologies.
• Proven ability to lead change and design more efficient processes.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry as well as general compliance and enforcement-related projects as a Business Analyst with a focus on data, databases, and data bridges.
• Proven ability to work compatibly within multifaceted teams; resolve conflict; and deal with challenging situations.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
