Senior AWS Engineer/Architect

We are seeking a Senior AWS Engineer/Architect with deep expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure to support one of our premier investment banking clients, Jefferies Bank, located in Jersey City, NJ. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in the investment banking or financial services industry, strong communication skills, and a hands-on background in architecting and delivering enterprise-scale cloud solutions.

Key Qualifications:

15+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5 years focused on AWS Cloud architecture and engineering

AWS Professional Certification is required

Advanced hands-on experience with core AWS services across compute, storage, networking, and security

Strong experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation

Familiarity with Ansible, EC2, Unix/Linux, User Data scripting

Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and Serverless frameworks

Strong networking and cloud security background

Experience with Kafka is a plus

Strong programming skills in Python

Expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM)

Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, SDLC, and DevOps best practices

Experience collaborating with both Infrastructure and Application teams

Background in financial services or investment banking is highly preferred

Azure experience is a plus, but not required

Strong leadership, mentoring, and incident resolution skills

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS

Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for deploying customer applications

Automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code best practices

Provide architectural guidance and technical mentorship to application and business teams

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve enterprise IT cloud capabilities

Configure and manage AWS environments, services, and security policies

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance

Stay current with cloud trends and recommend solutions that align with business needs

Identify and implement critical upgrades and improvements for threat management

Support multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing business requirements
