Scalability Engineer (PHP)

Job Description

We're looking for a consultant to help on of our clients build and improve core back-end communication services, processing pipelines and storage platforms. You will tackle challenges around performance optimization, parallelization, and scalability that come with the data demands of a high-traffic, constantly growing, and public website.

Qualifications & Key Skills:

• Have a BS or MS in Computer Science or equiv.
• 4+ years’ experience programing data driven applications in Java or PHP making heavy use of SQL, preferably MySQL
• Experience with batch data processing
• Have experience with high volume data pipeline or high availability queuing systems.
• Love to work with open source technologies like Hadoop, activeMQ, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL, PHP
• Live to break down and solve complex problems by creating practical, maintainable, and scalable solutions- Desire to be constantly learning new things.
• Excellent communication skills & attention to detail.
• Are able to handle multiple competing priorities in an agile, fast-paced environment.
• Are a great person that willingly collaborates, listens, and cares about your peers.
• Experience with Unix/Linux and scripting.
• Ideal candidate would have experience with high volume email systems and familiarity with Lucene/Solr
