As part of the Reporting Team, the candidate will gather, coordinate and be responsible for providing technical reporting capabilities in support of the global risk applications.
Responsible to liaise with functional users and team members to gather business requirements, analyze reports to ensure business goals are achieved and quality is maintained, liaise with other group members and ITS teams to evaluate enhancements.
Support the Business Process Help Desk teams, Business Leads, Upper Management, & Compliance teams.
The candidate will also document issues and defects, liaise with the Reporting Project Manager, ITS Development teams, and Business Leads to keep all concerned parties informed.
Generate reports, large data extractions, and analysis based on a SQL back-end data store.
Design new reports/data transformation/flows and maintain existing report portfolio.
Utilize SQL scripting, SSIS and VB.Net; develop code that presents information to Risk Management and engagement teams in support of the member firm's ongoing operations and usage of the Global Risk systems.
Understand, interpret and challenge requirement specifications
Develop reports and ETL with little, incomplete or no written specifications.
Upgrade existing ETL framework and packages from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2016
Upgrade SSIS Script Tasks (written in VB.Net) from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2016
Address complex issues by thoroughly understanding the business and its functions
Design and maintain multifaceted SSIS and T-SQL based ETL processes
Support, maintain and create new reports in one of three VB.NET reporting applications
Troubleshoot complex issues as well as provide ongoing support to production: Create, manage and troubleshoot SQL Server Agent Jobs. Manage Logins and Security in SQL Server
Automate existing ongoing reports via SQL Server, SSIS and VB.NET while continuously looking for efficiencies.
Automate/schedule ETL processes via the SQL Server Agent.
Provide development estimates and participate in project planning. Learn and prototype new technologies, and recommend their use in future reporting solutions
Maintain detailed commentary in all SQL scripts and diligently report all activity (requirements gathering, development time and implementation) in the Project Activity Application
Document issues and defects, while liaising with the reporting manager, development teams, and business leads to keep all concerned parties informed
Ask logical questions to ascertain requirements /needs. Communicate with teams the technical implications, including extractions of data, processing of data, and the delivery of reports.
Liaise with application end users and team members to define report requirements, participate in group projects and support the business process help desk teams. Collaborate with team business leads and IT development teams to understand application and database structure changes and enhancements. Participate in business design sessions
Evaluate and propose solutions for business requirements that impact the application
Participate in the Deployment and Implementation of Projects
Skills:
5-7 years of overall business experience with at least four years of reporting development and SQL development and at least 3 years working with SSIS, preferably within a professional services firm
Demonstrated technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting the RDBMS Microsoft SQL Server
Strong experience in SQL development (T-SQL) including working with complex data structures and indexes
Database management knowledge focusing on Microsoft SQL server technology, including writing SQL stored procedures, cursors, dynamic SQL and performance tuning
Ability to reverse engineer existing ETL processes and VB.NET applications
Strong programming experience with Visual Basic and .Net
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices along with the capacity to stay abreast of current technologies and technological trends
Familiarity with SQL Server Credentials and Proxy accounts as they relate to the SQL Server Agent
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access & Excel including but not limited to macros, pivot tables, power query and power pivot.
Proficient in all other Microsoft Office applications
Light backup and restore experience
Ability to support VB.Net desktop reporting applications
Experience in analyzing reports and business data.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Particularly adept at conveying complex technical information in an understandable manner to all levels
Ability to act quickly on issues and requests associated with business needs
