Position Overview: QA Engineer
- The Standardized Encounter Data Project (SENDPRO is the State’s Medicaid IT initiative to transition encounter data submissions from a MassHealth-specific(custom) format to 837 EDI standard (Industry Standard).
- QA Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and executing testcases to validate the functionality, performance, and data integrity of the SENDPRO project. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, developers, and project managers, to ensure Successful implementation. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of EDI concepts, Datawarehouse concepts, testing methodologies, and expertise in Snowflake. The individual should work in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
Detailed List of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand SendPro project requirements, shaping comprehensive and tailored test plans.
- Design detailed test strategies, scenarios, and test cases to validate data warehouse and reporting processes within the SendPro environment.
- Execute manual and, where applicable, automated test cases to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across development, staging, and production environments.
- Identified, documented, and tracked defects using standardized tools, working closely with the development team to ensure timely resolution and verification.
- Perform end-to-end testing of ETL pipelines and data workflows to validate the correct movement and transformation of data within the SendPro ecosystem.
- Ensure consistency and integrity of data between source systems and target destinations, maintaining adherence to SendPro’s business logic and transformation rules.
- Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and cross-functional teams to understand complex technical components and ensure robust test coverage.
- Regularly communicate testing status, identified risks, and flagged issues to project managers and team leads for informed decision-making.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all test artifacts including test plans, test cases, execution results, and defect logs specific to SendPro.
- Produce comprehensive testing reports summarizing key findings, defect trends, and recommendations for quality improvements.
- Actively contributed to process improvements by recommending best practices and enhancements to testing workflows in the context of the SendPro project.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in testing Snowflake data warehouses and ETL processes.
- Proficient in SQL for data validation and querying, with experience in both Oracle SQL and Snow SQL scripts.
- Familiarity with scripting languages for test automation, such as Python or Java.
- Understanding data modeling concepts and principles.
- Experience with testing tools and frameworks related to Snowflake, including Snowflake Data Cloud, is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience working with Cloud Platforms such as AWS.
- Proficiency in Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) and relevant tools.
- Competence in Automation Tools such as Selenium and Apache AirFlow.
- Familiarity with GIT Version Control.
- Experience with Jira for tracking and managing testing tasks, as well as collaborating with development and other testing teams.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, demonstrating the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in ETL processes and testing tools.
- 3 years of experience in designing and maintaining testing frameworks for Snowflake.
- Ability to take high-level requirements and/or scope and drive to successful execution.
- Proficiency in MS Office, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio.
- Government and/or Healthcare prior experience desired.
