Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Technology Services, the Network Engineer plays an essential role in the monitoring, upgrading, and troubleshooting of the network. The Network Engineer is responsible for server configuration, back-end Windows support, and occasional end-user support. Provides desktop hardware and software support. Services equipment and provides technical support to ITG employees. Fields helpdesk calls and handles support to the network users. Assists in setting up and maintaining hardware. Uses independent judgment in setting work priorities. Handles confidential information.

 

Relationships:

· Internal: Communicates and interacts with staff at all levels, including the Director of Technology Services, and desktop users.

· External: Communicates with computer equipment manufacturers and other vendors.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assists the Director of Technology Services in providing network services, which include network design, technical support, and network troubleshooting.

· Supports performance of day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability within minimal interruption.

· Configures firewall security settings to access permissions groups for individuals and sets up provisions for incoming data.

· Participates in network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware, software, and integration testing, as well as coordinating these activities without disturbing the function of other systems.

· Develops and produces complex documentation for installation, network topology, and troubleshooting of communications hardware or software.

· Configures and installs various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balances, VPN, QoS).

· Performs network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.

· Liaises with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

· Provides support of the company's internal and external services, as necessary.

· Supports, troubleshoots, and configures Cisco firewall, VPN, Microsoft Cloud Applications such as Offic365, Azure cloud environment, Windows 10/11, Server 2019 and newer.

· Assists with the day-to-day end-user troubleshooting, system and software deployment coordination, asset management, data security, and future planning.

· Supports and maintains Active Directory/Azure Entra ID and Windows Server (2019 and newer).

· Supports, troubleshoots, and configures Cisco firewall, VPN, Microsoft Cloud Applications such as Offic365, Azure cloud environment, Windows 10/11, Server 2019 and newer.

 

Qualifications:

· Associate degree in related field, or equivalent training and work experience.

· Completion of appropriate vocational instruction courses or equivalent training and work experience.

· Minimum five years' experience in a business computer environment, including experience with personal computers, networking connectivity and functionality, and hardware/software troubleshooting.

· Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Windows client operating systems and Windows server operating systems.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Manager, Windows Server Cluster, iSCSI storage solutions are considered a plus.

· CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA, Microsoft Azure certifications are considered a plus.

· Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.

· Security fundamental background is a plus
