Description

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. This position requires a solid foundation in network fundamentals, troubleshooting, and vendor-specific technologies. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance of our backbone and datacenter networks while contributing to innovative projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain network systems at layers 1 through 4, ensuring robust connectivity and performance.
  • Perform break/fix operations, diagnosing and resolving network issues methodically to minimize downtime.
  • Implement and manage routing, switching, IP services, and network automation to support the infrastructure.
  • Monitor and optimize internal routing protocols, ensuring efficient configuration and day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate with team members to deploy and troubleshoot TCP/IP-based systems.
  • Document network configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps to maintain clear records.
  • Contribute to technical projects with a project management mindset, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
  • Stay updated on emerging networking protocols, programming languages, and vendor operating systems to adapt to evolving needs.

 

Qualifications

  • Beginner to intermediate logical and physical understanding of break/fix operations, including network layers 1, 2, 3, and 4.
  • Beginner to intermediate understanding of network fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of routing, switching, IP services, and network automation.
  • Working knowledge of at least two internal routing protocols, including their configuration and day-to-day operation.
  • Beginner to intermediate working knowledge of backbone and datacenter networks.
  • Beginner to intermediate working knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Familiarity with Juniper OS and Cisco IOS, with the ability to configure and troubleshoot these systems.
  • Vendor certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIP are preferred.
  • Experience with vendor hardware including Cisco, Juniper, NVIDIA, and Avocent.
  • Understanding of Unix/Linux shells and scripting languages, with a preference for Python.
  • Ability to learn new networking protocols, programming/scripting languages, and vendor operating systems as necessary.
  • Methodical approach to troubleshooting network issues.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
  • Technical project management mindset to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Team-player attitude, with a proactive and highly motivated approach to work
