Description

  • Highly technical Network Engineering position for supporting a large campus infrastructure.
  • Work as a technical lead with a team of professionals to assist in maintaining a large and complex campus network.
  • Will take a lead role in supporting all aspects of the VoIP and Data Network.
  • Will require Critical thinking, communication, and customer relations skills.
  • Position will occasionally require working after business hours and on weekends to complete project tasks and/or incident resolution during on-call rotation.
  • Daily work will involve Network engineering work involving planning, design, maintenance, and support of a statewide Cisco network.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues on voice and data networks.
  • Provide support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with the wireless infrastructure.
  • Provide support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with Cisco LAN DNA infrastructure.
  • Perform maintenance on network appliances and servers by applying patches, upgrades, and performing backups.
  • Perform packet captures and analysis to assist in the resolution of issues.
  • Document all relevant end-user interactions and steps taken to resolve incidents.

Skills Required

  • The ideal candidate should have experience in:
    • Cisco Catalyst 9300 / Other Catalyst Series switches
    • Cisco Nexus 9K/7K/5K/2K Series of switches
    • Cisco ASR and ISR Routers
    • Wireless LAN technologies
  • Extensive experience in LAN/WAN integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience configuring and maintaining routing protocols in a Cisco environment, primarily EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF

Experience Required

  • Minimum 8 years working in a Cisco environment utilizing the skills listed in the sections above
  • Held the position of technical lead of small to medium-sized technical projects with 2 or more other team members
  • Experience configuring and tuning SNMP environments

Education Required

  • The candidate must have, or be able to obtain, a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in one of the following areas: Wireless, Voice, or Route/Switch
  • Associate degree in Information Technology or a minimum of 8 years experience working in Cisco Environment with experience in at least two of the following areas: LAN, WLAN or VoIP
  • Or a minimum of 8-10 years experience working in Cisco Environment with experience in at least two following areas: LAN, WLAN, or VoIP
