What you’ll do
Build new MSSQL infrastructure and test and migrate the data from old infrastructure to new
Prepare the pre-implementation plan for both non-production and production migration, including a plan of implementation, post-implementation verification and backout
Help to optimize the database performance before the production go-live
Help to ensure end-to-end testing of the underlying middleware (in collaboration with application SME) to ensure no data loss and good application performance
Maintain documentation on migration strategies, rollback plans, and best practices
Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements
Automate migration tasks using PowerShell, SQL scripts, and third-party tools where applicable
What you need to have to succeed in this role
Strong expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and 2019
Experience migrating between MSSQL database versions
Ability to create testing, implementation, verification and rollback plans and writing documentation and procedures
Proven ability to provision, configure, manage and troubleshoot on-prem instances of MS SQL in High-Availability setup
Proficiency in PowerShell, SQL and Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019
Solid understanding of monitoring and optimizing database performance
Willingness to work with closed-source 3rd party product
Familiarity with middleware technology (IBM Liberty or WAS) is a plus
