Description

We are seeking a skilled Midrange Automation Programmer to develop and maintain automation programs, scripts, and jobs across NonStop, Stratus, OpenVMS, Unisys, and iSeries (AS/400) systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in scripting, batch processing, and system automation to optimize operational efficiency and reliability. This role requires hands-on experience in automating system tasks, job scheduling, and workflow orchestration across midrange computing environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in automation programming and scripting for midrange systems (NonStop, Stratus, OpenVMS, Unisys, iSeries).
• Proficiency in TACL, VMS DCL, JCL, CL, Shell scripting, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience with job scheduling tools (Control-M, CA Autosys, Tivoli, or platform-specific schedulers).
• Strong understanding of batch processing, file transfers (SFTP, FTP), and workload automation.
• Experience working with databases (SQL, DB2, Oracle, Enscribe, RMS, DMSII) for automation tasks.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve automation failures, job errors, and performance bottlenecks.
• Knowledge of system monitoring, logging tools, and automation frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.


Key Responsibilities:
• Automation Development: Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts, batch jobs, and programs for NonStop, Stratus, OpenVMS, Unisys, and iSeries environments.
• Job Scheduling & Workflow Orchestration: Implement and optimize automated job scheduling and batch processing using tools like Control-M, CA Autosys, Tivoli Workload Scheduler, or native schedulers.
• System Scripting & Programming: Develop scripts in TACL (Tandem NonStop), VMS DCL (OpenVMS), JCL (Unisys), CL (iSeries), Shell scripting, Python, or PowerShell to automate system tasks and processes.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize system performance, resource utilization, and automation workflows to enhance efficiency
