Description

We are seeking a skilled Functional Tester to join our team and contribute to the quality assurance efforts of our Integrated Eligibility systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in manual functional testing, test case design, and defect management, with a strong understanding of both public sector applications and modern software testing practices.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute detailed test cases based on business and system requirements.
  • Perform defect tracking, prioritization, and coordinate resolutions with development and functional teams.
  • Analyze test results and verify expected outcomes against design specifications.
  • Write and execute SQL queries against Oracle databases to validate test scenarios.
  • Document, track, and report defects using test management tools.
  • Interpret business requirements to develop compelling and accurate test scenarios.
  • Participate in testing activities across SDLC/STLC in both Waterfall and Agile environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure software quality throughout all phases of the project.
  • Contribute to test planning and risk assessment processes.

 

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 4–5 years of IT experience, with at least 1 year in hands-on software testing.
  • Manual functional testing expertise with strong defect management skills.
  • Experience with test case and defect management tools (e.g., Microsoft Test Manager, Client ALM, or Quality Center).
  • Familiarity with SDLC and STLC in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle DB querying.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Analytical thinking and solid problem-solving abilities.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with MTM, TFS, Soap UI, Visual Studio.
  • Exposure to integrated eligibility systems (Medicaid, SNAP/TANF, Child Care).
  • Understanding of citizen-facing and worker portal applications.
  • Experience in data conversion projects involving legacy systems.
  • Familiarity with various testing approaches, including white-box, black-box, interface testing, regression testing.
  • Knowledge of Agile, RUP, Lean, or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience creating automation scripts using VBScript, Selenium, or TFS Coded UI.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred
