Job Description:-
Provide L2/L3 production support for mainframe applications, including incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive solutions.
Design, code, test, and implement enhancements and bug fixes in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and related mainframe technologies.
Monitor and maintain batch jobs, handle job failures, and ensure timely recovery and data integrity.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including QA, infrastructure, and business analysts to ensure smooth system operation.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support as needed.
Analyze and optimize legacy code to improve performance and reliability.
Prepare technical documentation, deployment plans, and operational procedures.
Support change management and release processes in coordination with DevOps and infrastructure teams.
Mentor junior developers and promote best practices in mainframe development and support.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development and support.
Strong expertise in:
COBOL
JCL
DB2
CICS
VSAM, TSO/ISPF
Solid understanding of batch and online processing.
Proven experience in resolving production issues quickly and efficiently.
Familiarity with job scheduling tools (e.g., CA7, Control-M).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience in Agile or ITIL-based environments.
Familiarity with mainframe modernization tools or integration with distributed platforms.
Basic knowledge of scripting (e.g., REXX) or monitoring tools.
Exposure to incident management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
