Mainframe Developer

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, IMS/DB, CICS, and JCL to support mission-critical banking applications for our client, Bank of America. This is an onsite role in Wilmington, DE, offering a long-term opportunity with a leading financial institution.

Responsibilities:

Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL.

Work with IMS/DB and IMS/DC for high-performance data management and transaction processing.

Utilize CICS for developing and supporting online applications.

Create and maintain JCL scripts for batch job scheduling and execution.

Collaborate with system analysts, testers, and business teams to ensure optimal system performance and user experience.

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and performance bottlenecks.

Assist in system integration, deployment, and post-implementation support.

Required Skills & Experience:

8+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe development.

Strong proficiency in COBOL programming.

In-depth knowledge of z/OS mainframe operating system.

Expertise in IMS database technologies including IMS/DB and IMS/DC.

Extensive experience in CICS for transaction processing.

Advanced skills in Job Control Language (JCL) for batch job execution.

Basic understanding of mainframe system administration tasks such as dataset management and security protocols.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with financial services or banking applications.

Knowledge of Agile or hybrid SDLC methodologies.

Familiarity with tools such as Endevor, File-AID, and Xpediter
