Description

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed project feasibility studies, formulate complete system scope, project cost, time estimates and human resource and IT infrastructure requirements for new and existing application software systems.
  • Assist directs, trains and coordinates the work of less experienced application software developers and/or application systems analyst staff and assists with development of difficult and complex programs.
  • Responsible for development, support, maintenance and implementation of a complex project module.
  • Design, code and debug new application software programs and/or makes enhancements to existing application software programs of all levels.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of COBOL programming or related procedural programming.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database concepts.
  • Advanced skills working with COBOL, IDMS, JCL, and SQL.
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical and logical concepts and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Strong quantitative, analytics, problem solving and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects, demonstrate initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Experience

  • Experience in all aspects of SDLC including specification development, design, coding, testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex mainframe applications.
  • Hands-on experience – COBOL/CICS/DB2 Coding, testing & Debugging.
  • Experience extracting business logic from programs and documenting business rules.
  • Experience in Usability Testing (participate with the users in the system testing of their programs).

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
