Lead PostgreSQL DBA with AWS

Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Database Engineer to design, build, and optimize resilient enterprise data platforms across on-premises and hybrid multi-cloud environments. This is a hands-on individual contributor role that requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-performance, scalable, and cost-optimized platforms while leveraging modern database and cloud technologies.

Mandatory Skills

Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.

10+ years’ progressive experience in database engineering.

5+ years’ expertise with PostgreSQL, Redis/Memory DB, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS, MySQL, Snowflake, MongoDB.

Strong background in cloud databases & services (AWS, Azure, OCP, OIC, MongoDB Atlas).

3+ years designing solutions in hybrid cloud environments.

Advanced SQL, scripting (PowerShell, Unix shell; Python/JSON a plus).

Proficiency with SQL tools (TOAD, SQL Developer, PGADMIN, DPA, snowsql, MongoDB Compass, etc.).

Solid knowledge of database security, backup/recovery, performance monitoring.

Experience with database migrations (cloud ↔ on-premises, homogeneous & heterogeneous).

Schema design, relational/dimensional modeling, and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

AWS/Azure certifications highly preferred.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Key Responsibilities

Lead database migrations and modernization projects from on-prem to cloud.

Architect, engineer, and optimize data platforms in multi-cloud hybrid environments.

Implement automation for provisioning, patching, monitoring, and maintenance.

Ensure database reliability, scalability, and security through best practices and governance.

Support high-priority incidents as a Level 3 escalation resource.

Provide mentorship to onsite/offshore teams on cloud database technologies.

Drive technology roadmaps, align with enterprise architecture, and evaluate emerging technologies.

Design and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans.

Implement observability and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, LogicMonitor).
