The Senior Software Developer will conduct development activities for the MRC-STTRONG project. The goal of this project is to make improvements to the SERVNY application, a volunteer management application used by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Regional Medical Reserve Corps (MRCs) and Local Health Departments in NYS. Several improvements will occur both on the public-facing registration application and the administrative application in alignment with grant deliverables.

 

Duties

• The Senior Software Developer will lead computer application development in support of the MRC-STTRONG grant. The incumbent will:

• Oversee and manage the SERVNY application development including providing technical expertise, guidance, and implementing, testing, and deploying code.

• Guide the development of robust technical solutions for the SERVNY application, ensuring, system layout, technology stack, and framework selection.

• Leverage technical expertise to deliver a cohesive application through the development lifecycle, optimizing for performance, scalability, and future expansion.

• Implement a responsive web application that can work on any device. This application will use a Single Page Application (SPA) architecture and interact with secure RESTful services.

• The backend will be developed using object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and leverage Spring framework, and Spring Boot for faster development.

• The user interface (UI) will be built with the Angular framework using TypeScript for type safety and enhanced maintainability.

• PrimeNG components will be used to provide pre-built UI elements. Finally, the application will connect to a relational database, either PostgreSQL or Oracle, for data storage and retrieval.
