Job Description:
A Greenplum administrator, or Greenplum DBA, is responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of Greenplum database systems. This includes tasks like installation, upgrades, performance monitoring, and ensuring the overall health and security of the database. They also handle backups, user management, and troubleshooting issues.
Setting up new Greenplum databases and applying necessary software patches and upgrades.
Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing tuning strategies to optimize performance.
Implementing and managing backup procedures to ensure data integrity and enable recovery in case of failures.
Creating, managing, and maintaining user accounts and permissions within the Greenplum system.
Responding to user issues, troubleshooting database problems, and providing technical support.
Implementing and maintaining database security measures to protect sensitive data.
Managing and supporting the infrastructure on which Greenplum is installed, including SAN and networking.
Collaborating on the design and architecture of Greenplum environments, including new hardware and software deployments.
Maintaining documentation of Greenplum systems and procedures.
