Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced GCP Kubernetes Engineer to join our team at Scotiabank. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), along with strong knowledge of IAM policies and cloud security best practices. Exposure to the financial services domain will be considered a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot workloads in Kubernetes clusters.
  • Utilize Helm charts, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and RBAC to configure and manage Kubernetes environments.
  • Monitor, optimize, and scale applications using Kubernetes-native tools.
  • Work with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, GKE, and IAM.
  • Design and implement IAM policies following the principle of least privilege and role-based access control.
  • Collaborate with security teams to identify and close security gaps, especially in cloud storage and bucket access policies.
  • Integrate cloud IAM with Active Directory (nice to have).
  • Support DevOps and cloud engineering teams in ensuring application reliability and performance.

     

Required Skills & Qualifications

 

  • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP services (GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM).
  • Proficiency in designing and managing IAM policies and RBAC.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and scaling applications in Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of integrating AD group policies with cloud IAM (nice to have).
  • Experience in a financial services or regulated industry is a plus.

     

Work Environment

 

  • Toronto-based role; 4 days/week onsite at Scotiabank’s downtown office.
