Currently, they have many vendors providing data feeds into them on prem SQL Server data warehouse. These data transfers are usually in either emails or simple file formats. This is how the current on prem data warehouse is populated. These are called "data extracts”. This work will roll up under Steven Wiley, the Data Engineering Manager. He said there are 200 data extracts they are evaluating now (reviewing all the business requirements) and expect probably half of those to go away or be repurposed, with an eventual goal of moving approx. 100 data extracts from the on prem system to the Snowflake data warehouse. This is a bit of a manual process and will require very strong SQL skills, along with ETL and data warehouse concepts and/or migration experience/knowledge. They have BRD (business requirement documents) for these extracts, but it's in old in Excel and needs to be migrated into Confluence, which will be part of what is expected from this consultant.
