Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Database Developer with strong expertise in DB2 and Oracle to join a long-term project with Prudential in Newark, NJ. This hybrid role requires candidates to be local to New Jersey or New York.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in database design, SQL query optimization, performance tuning, and ETL. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and maintain scalable database solutions and ensure data quality and performance standards are met.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement efficient database structures and schemas to support application requirements.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for data manipulation, transformation, and reporting.
  • Conduct performance tuning using tools such as Explain Plan, Query Analyzer, and Optimization Tools.
  • Ensure database integrity, performance, and security through regular testing and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze and translate business data requirements into database structures.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers and business users to meet data-related needs.
  • Participate in data migration and transformation projects.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes using tools like Informatica.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for database schemas, processes, and best practices.
  • Ensure all database programs follow the organization's standards and compliance requirements.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of overall experience in database development.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience with DB2 and Oracle databases.
  • Proven expertise in SQL tuning and performance optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency with SQL Server and other relational databases.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles—discovery, quality, transformation, and security.
  • Experience with ETL tools, especially Informatica.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
