Developing a comprehensive backup and recovery plan considering the organizations needs and ensuring that the backup/restore/recovery processes are automated, efficient, and reliable. Monitoring database storage space usage, disk usage and network performance to ensure adequate space for the database to function and that data can be accessed quickly and efficiently. Implementing specialized backup and recovery solutions to accommodate large data volumes. Writing shell scripts to automate various tasks, such as removing old, archived logs and backups from disk, and comparing these backups with tape. Installing, configuring, and upgrading databases in Unix environments, and ensuring that the databases are secure and performant. Performing database refresh and restore activities on demand using Oracle import/export,
data pump. Collaborating with QA, IT, Development and Data Warehouses teams to fix data issues and handle monthly data purges. Working with system and storage administrators to gather and understand performance statistics and to tune the database server accordingly.
