Data Modeler

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing data systems to develop strategies for integration into an integrated data architecture.
• Lead design reviews of data models and other relevant metadata to ensure consistency, quality, accuracy and integrity.
• Provide feasible paths to support GSM-O II Operations and Innovations, including the goals of AI Operations.
• Work closely with solution architects, data analysts, database administrators, and engineers concerning the mapping of data schemas and will be making recommendations, designing referential integrity, and ensuring business requirements are satisfied.
• Support the Data Cleansing Data Governance Process from Data Modeling perspective.
• Consult with application programmers and database users concerning how to use the database as designed and how to navigate efficiently within the database.
• Work with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows.

Required Skills

• Exposure and understanding of Big Data technologies and architectures – Hadoop, Cassandra, Green Plum, etc.
• Ability to adapt to new modeling methods.
• Knowledge of mathematical foundations and statistical analysis.
• Strong understanding of retail analytics data.
• Advanced understanding of Data systems and tools.
• Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, change management and consulting skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork & collaboration skills.
• Ability to work and achieve objectives independently and as part of a team.
• Experience Leading JAD sessions and assisting junior team members with defining data model development methodologies, principles, standards, and governance considering People and Process optimization aspects.

Required Experience

• 5+ years professional experience in data management.
• Proven professional experience with database development and data analysis.
• Hands on experience in writing SQL queries, views, and optimization of SQL queries.
• Professional experience in retail, consulting, technology with progressively increasing responsibility; strong understanding of technology, business systems.
• Hands on experience with modeling tools, such as: ERWIN or another industry standard tool and knowledge of various features of modeling tool.
• Strong experience in platforms like Teradata and/or Oracle with VLDB.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field
