The Client department seeks a skilled Data Engineer to join the Datamarts Analytics team. The team manages and develops databases across multiple business divisions, including front office trading, reference, finance, and risk data. The role involves the development and maintenance of high-volume data environments utilizing technologies such as Sybase, DB2, Greenplum, Hadoop, MongoDB, and business intelligence platforms like Tableau, QlikView, and Business Objects.
This position involves a combination of database infrastructure engineering, application development, performance tuning, and ETL pipeline development within an Agile/Scrum environment. Strong collaboration and communication with global business partners and IT stakeholders is required.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform database infrastructure engineering for stability, scalability, and capacity planning.
- Execute application DBA tasks including schema changes, bottleneck analysis, performance optimization, maintenance, and recovery.
- Develop and optimize stored procedures, SQL queries, and ETL workflows.
- Enforce database security policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Support project life cycle activities such as design, testing, implementation, and release.
- Collaborate with IT partners and engineering teams to meet business requirements.
- Provide Level 3 support and participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of experience with relational databases – particularly DB2 Linux or Sybase.
- Scripting experience on Linux platforms using Perl, Python, or Unix/Korn Shell.
- Deep understanding of RDBMS performance tuning: indexing strategies, statistics, memory/configuration optimization, etc.
- Proficient in writing high-quality, efficient SQL queries and stored procedures.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Greenplum, Hadoop, or MongoDB.
- Exposure to data lakes and large-scale data environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Agile development practices.
- Background in finance or investment banking is a strong plus.
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Certifications
