Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect / Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and implementation of modern data infrastructure and AI/ML pipelines. This role is part of a technology-driven consulting team focused on delivering innovative and scalable data solutions across a diverse range of industries including manufacturing, energy, and agriculture.

As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for bridging business objectives with technology strategies, driving agile and DevOps practices, and ensuring the secure, ethical, and high-performance deployment of AI systems. This role also offers opportunities to lead initiatives from pre-sales through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & AI Pipeline Design

Design and maintain scalable data infrastructure (conceptual, logical, and physical models)
Develop end-to-end machine learning pipelines in collaboration with data scientists and engineers
Translate business vision into feasible technical implementations
Select appropriate technologies from open-source and commercial options

Agile Development & DevOps Integration

Lead agile implementation of data and AI initiatives
Integrate AI tools with existing data platforms
Ensure iterative development with continuous improvement practices

Data Governance & AI Ethics

Audit and maintain data quality, governance, and security compliance
Collaborate with security teams on risk mitigation
Promote ethical and transparent AI development

Performance & Innovation

Optimize data storage and processing for performance and scalability
Identify opportunities for system improvements and innovation
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and AI trends

Communication & Leadership

Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Lead cross-functional collaboration and nurture a culture of innovation
Support client-facing engagements and pre-sales activity

Qualifications

Required

5+ years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, or equivalent
Hands-on expertise in ETL/ELT, data modeling, and data transformation
Experience with big data and analytics tools (e.g., SQL Server, BigQuery, Apache Spark, Hadoop)
Familiarity with ML tools and frameworks
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Business-level Japanese (N2 or above) and business or native English proficiency
Self-starter with a passion for technology and innovation
Comfortable operating in ambiguous and fast-changing environments

Preferred

Experience leading agile data teams or transformation initiatives
Background in consulting or working across diverse industries
Experience designing AI solutions in enterprise environments
