SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: The Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence (AI) AuditManager is responsible for the execution of internal audits focusing on dataanalytics and artificial intelligence systems and controls. The role involves assessing risk, evaluating algorithm integrity, validating data governance, and ensuring compliance with AI-related regulations and ethical standards. Additionally, the position will strategically enhance the internal audit function by embedding data analytics and AI into audit planning, execution, andreporting.
Responsibilities include:
Leadership & Strategy
· Lead a team of auditors and data specialists in planning and delivering risk-based audits, with a focus on data analytics, automation, and AI-related areas.
· Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on data analytics and AI within the audit function, supporting capability development and training.
· Advise executive leadership on risks associated with AI adoption, algorithmic decision-making, and emerging technologies.
· Drive the integration of data analytics andAI audit methodologies into the overall audit framework.
Audit Delivery
· Oversee audits of AI systems, datapipelines, and digital platforms, including assessments of model fairness,transparency, bias, and compliance.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of datagovernance, model risk management frameworks, and automated controls.
· Ensure audits are compliant with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including AI regulations.
· Review and approve audit reports with clear, concise, and value-driven findings and recommendations.
· Assist the DCAO in performing and supervising audits, identifying critical control issues, and recommending corrective actions for various business lines, including but not limited to: Commercial Banking, Commercial and Residential Lending, Accounting,Treasury, Bank Operations, Trust and Vendor Management.
· Coordinate the department’s risk assessment process by assisting audit staff in performing risk assessment workshops.
· Supervise the work of the Staff Auditor asit relates to the assigned audit in accordance with professional standards.Provide coaching to ensure assignments are adequately planned in advance,answering questions, providing technical assistance and information to adequately prepare audit staff, ensuring work is performed in accordance with Internal Audit’s standards, and preparing staff assessments with input from the DCAO.
· Provide assistance and guidance to the Internal Audit co-source firm to ensure the timely and efficient completion of their audits.
· Assist the DCAO on special projects and assignments, including regulatory requests.
· Maintain core competencies in understandingbank operations and key industry risks.
Stakeholder Engagement
· Engage with business units, technology teams, and risk owners to understand and assess risks related to data and AI.
· Represent the audit function in senior management meetings, risk committees, and external regulatory interactions when relevant.
· Influence change by promoting ethical andresponsible AI use across the organization.
Education:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred professional certifications: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP),ISO/IEC 42001 or other AI governance frameworks. Certification or training inAI ethics, data governance, or model risk management (e.g., MIT AI Ethics, NISTAI Risk Framework),
Experience:
· 10+ years in internal/external audit orrisk assurance, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
· Significant experience auditing or managing risks in data analytics, machine learning, or AI environments.
· Strong background in IT risk, data governance, and regulatory compliance.
· Demonstrated experience in managing and developing high-performing audit teams.
Skills & Competencies:
Technical
· Deep knowledge of AI/ML systems, model life cycle, and related controls.
· Understanding of data analytics tools(e.g., Tableau, Python, SQL, Power BI, R) and audit automation.
· Awareness of cloud computing, big data architecture, and cybersecurity risks in AI systems.
· Knowledge of Workiva audit database and Workiva AI capabilities is a plus.
