Cobol developer

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis, modify existing and create new batch COBOL programs, JCL and reports in addition to modifying existing CICS COBOL programs.
• Develop and/or modify COBOL programs while providing expertise from concept and design to testing.
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code.
• Ensure designs are following specifications and best practices.
• Prepare and produce releases of software components.
• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.

Required Skills

• Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Ability to collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and milestones.
• Ability to work well remotely, responsive, communicates well, and can work in a fast paced environment.
• Quick learners are able to quickly understand complex business.

Required Experience

• 72 months of experience in COBOL application development.
• 72 months of experience in DB2 programming on IBM z/OS.
• 36 months of experience participating in System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and creating SDLC artifacts.
• Experience with JCL, VSAM, NDM and/or DB2 are highly preferred.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
