Hybrid Cloud Systems Engineer, Azure, SQL Server, Windows, Active Directory for a contract position.

This position can be hybrid onsite in the Los Angeles or San Francisco area.

What you will be doing:

• Support planning, design, implementation, operation, and optimization of hybrid cloud infrastructure – Azure, SQL Server, Windows
• Evaluate environment and recommend architectural improvements
• Implement solutions – IaaS, PaaS
• Embed Financial Operations best practices
• Support and Database administration – SQL Server including performing ongoing database tuning, indexing, and optimization
• Review, manage, and optimize SQL Server environments on-prem and Azure
• Backups and restores
• Migrate legacy databases to Azure SQL Managed Instances
• Server and database integration
• Monitoring using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics
• Manage legacy infrastructure while transitioning to cloud-native solutions
• Optimize existing cloud infrastructure - IaaS, PaaS
• Lead FinOps initiatives, implement best practices
• Works with Defender for Cloud, Sentinel
• System administration of Windows Servers, Azure Virtual Desktop – AVD with Nerdio, and Azure VMware Solution - AVS

What you will need:

• 5-10+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Systems Administrator, Cloud Systems Engineer
• Database Administration of SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022
• Strong experience in performance tuning, failover clusters, Always On availability groups, and SQL Agent jobs
• Experience managing SQL in on-prem + Azure SQL MI and cloud native Azure SQL Databases
• Experience managing Azure VMware Solution (AVS)
• Experience managing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
• Experience in designing and managing Azure infrastructure
• Experience with Azure cost management tools
• Windows Server administration including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, RDP
• Basic Linux administration
